AHDO signs partnership agreement with Self-Promotion Expansion Center for Sustainable Development (CEAD) improve the food security of households in Kwilu.
On 12 November 2020, the African Organization for Health and Development (AHDO) having its headquarters in Kinshasa here represented by Dr Vicente Sinining, as "Project Manager" signed a partnership agreement with the Self-Promotion Expansion Center for Sustainable Development (CEAD) represented by Mr. Ferdinand Pasula Mpenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors.
AHDO and CEAD have common areas of action and have agreed to conclude a partnership protocol to collaborate in order to:
- a) improve the food security of households in Kwilu;
- b) promote good food and nutritional practices in Kwilu;
- c) prevent deficiency diseases through the implementation of the NAC approach;
- d) promote sustainable agriculture and food security as well as hygiene, water and sanitation.
The SELF-PROMOTION EXPANSION CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (CEAD) is a non-profit organization under Congolese law based in the rural area of Kalo, Kwilu province with the aim of developing adult men, adult women and young people. men, young women agricultural producers and children (boys and girls) from vulnerable families using processes and methods that help improve their food security, nutrition and health. Its fields are:
- Reorganization and capacity building of agricultural producers on production techniques, supply of inputs, processing, conservation and marketing of agricultural products and by-products to cooperatives by agricultural sector;
- Improving plant and animal production by setting up pilot activities that generate income (IGA) and food: (a) food crops; b) market gardening; c) reforestation of fruit trees, caterpillars and medicinal plants; d) Fish farming (production of fry and fish); e) Beekeeping (production of queens, production of honey and its derivatives); f) rearing of large and small cattle; g) Breeding of small wild animals threatened with extinction in the wild; h) backyard breeding;
- Support for the production, processing and marketing of agricultural products and by-products in favor of pilot farms and cooperatives by agricultural sector;
- Nutrition and health promotion: (a) rehabilitation / construction and support to nutritional centers; b) Nutritional and medical care for proven cases of kwashiorkor; c) Processing of local balanced foods based on local production; d) Capacity building of community leaders in good food and nutrition practices; e) rehabilitation / construction of health centers; (F) support in equipment and pharmaceutical products for health and nutrition centers;
- Dietary advice to communities;
- Hygiene, water and sanitation.
AHDO and CEAD have expressed the wish to jointly develop a partnership based on future projects, actions and / or cooperation agreements in areas of common interest.
The two parties also intend to strengthen cooperation between partners, contribute to the transfer and exchange of capacities and develop a network of experts and partners as well as projects with high added value beneficial for the two institutions which enter into a partnership.
Both parties have the material and human resources, as well as the experience necessary to achieve these goals.
