AHDO AND APEFA SIGNS AN MOU OF COOPERATION IN AREAS OF COMMON INTEREST.
01 August 2020: African Health Development Organization (AHDO) and Action for the protection of Environment and promotion of Agricultural sector (APEFA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop together a partnership based on future projects, actions and cooperation agreements in areas of common interest.
AHDO and APEFA intend to strengthen cooperation between partners, contribute to the transfer and exchange of capacities and develop a large network of experts and partners as well as projects with high added value beneficial for the two institutions. Both parties have material and human resources, as well as the experience required to achieve the following objectives:
- The sustainable development of agriculture and the promotion of agro industrial aiming at food security and fight against malnutrition;
- Promoting diversity and increasing local production and consumption of foods with high nutritional value;
- Improving hygiene and sanitation conditions;
- Job creation and income improvement;
- Technique Technical assistance and training for the improvement and strengthening of human and institutional capacities;
- Community development in the following intervention areas: (a)Environment and natural Resources sustainable management; (b) Agriculture promotion and food security as well as Hygiene and Sanitation
APEFA is a national non-government organization founded by people concerned with environment degradation in Rwanda and food security and legally recognized as an organization working on health environmental education, climate change, sustainable development aspects and promotion of sustainable agriculture in Rwanda since 2007. APEFA aims to promote the development of agriculture aimed at food security (diversity and the quantity of agricultural products cultivated by the household) and the improvement of living conditions and hygiene and sanitation and reduction of malnutrition (increase in local production and consumption of foods of high nutritional value) aimed at the development of communities.
African Health Development Organization (AHDO) is an international non-government and non-profit organization founded to contribute to the sustainable development of the DRC by promoting the nutritional well-being of the population. AHDO works to ensure the prevention, surveillance and management of nutritional diseases; and to promote animal and plant production and good consumption. Its areas of interventions include (a) Community food security in support of Income Generating Activities (IGAs); (b) Promotion of good food and nutritional practices for local foods; (c) Health zones, health areas, health care providers, shelters, community leaders, nutritional monitoring of the population, growth monitoring and promotion; and (d) Support for nutrition initiatives and activities in the community. AHDO draws on primary health care strategies especially on: (a) improving household food security; (b) promotion of good food and nutritional practices; and (c) prevention of deficiency diseases whereby implementing the NAC approach. AHDO is based in Kinshasa, DRC with provincial offices in Goma (North Kivu), Kwilu, Kwango, Kasaï and Sankuru.
